Simply Red‘s “Stars” was the second single from their 1991 homonymous album. The single reached number eight in the United Kingdom and was successful in some other countries in Europe, but stalled at number forty-four in the United States in March 1992. However, the song did reach number eight in the US Adult Contemporary chart. The previous single “Something Got Me Started” reached number twenty three on the Billboard Hot 100.
It was written by lead singer Mick Hucknall, and produced by Stewart Levine.
