“Escapade” is the third single from American R&B-pop singer Janet Jackson‘s fourth studio album, Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, released in 1989.
It was written by Jackson, James Harris III, and Terry Lewis. Produced by Jam & Lewis, co-produced by Janet. “Escapade” peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in early March 1990, becoming Jackson’s third number-one single. It also topped the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and the Hot Dance Club Play, and was certified gold by the RIAA.
Remixes were in charge of famous producer/remixer Shep Pettibone, who had a prolific career in the 80′s and early 90′s, collaborating with artists like Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, and Cathy Dennis.
The finger snaps you hear on both album version and remixes were courtesy of Johnny Gill, an R&B artist with six solo albums and once member of New Edition.
