Mea Culpa (Part II)” is a 1991 song created by the musical project Enigma. The single was the second of four singles released from MCMXC a.D.

It was released in April 1991. In the US charts, it reached number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play, and nineteen on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales charts. It only reached fifty-five in the UK.

Single Information:

Mea Culpa – Part II” was released with two different covers in Europe.  I own both but chose the above one as it is my favorite. Below you can see the easier to find cover. Both versions of the single were made in Germany, bear the same catalog number and track listing.

Samples Used:

The “Fading Shades” mix contains elements from Soul II Soul’s “Keep On Movin’”. Click here to listen.

The “Orthodox” version, used for the video, samples from various sources.

  • Public Enemy’s “Security Of The First World“, also sampled by Madonna’s “Justify My Love
  • The inverted off- beats are from William Orbit’s remix of “Justify My Love”, as well as the female moans and gasps heard.

As far as I know, none of these were credited.
