“Lost In Your Eyes” was the sixth single from American singer-songwriter-actress Debbie Gibson, and the first from her second album Electric Youth. It was written and produced by her.

The ballad climbed to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart the week of March 4, 1989. It stayed at the top position for three weeks, becoming her most successful single. The song also reached number three on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

I first had this on US 7″ vinyl, and remember instantly liking the acoustic mix of “Silence Speaks” much more than the album version.

Tracks 2 and 3 of this CD single are otherwise unavailable on compact disc.

  1. Thanks for this great, rare share! You are amazing!

  2. Thanks for the comments guys! I love the acoustic versions of all Gibson songs, my favs are probably “Silence…” and “We Could Be Together”.

  3. Oh I love this song by Debbi Gibson. I was instantly smitten the first time I heard it on the local radio show. This has been my favorite song of hers.
I only have 3~4 tiny toys in my collection. They’re cute but usually the printing quality is a bit poor imo.
    Thank you Johann!

  4. Totally agree with Cisum. The 3″ CD single! Things got serious and dark when the 90s arrive and grunge sets into the scene. Love this song – still sounds so crispy cool after all these years! Chwee (Singapore)

  5. Wow! Another memorable moment from early ‘89. That was the time of Straight Up, My Perogative, Superwoman and The Living Years…bittersweet feeling revisiting all these classics.

As for Ms Deborah Gibson, her debut album is a solid pop-dance album. No fillers. I actually prefer it to the Electric Youth album. Nonetheless, I was VERY surprised that despite this being a #1, there were no more Top 10s from Debbie! No jackpot for Electric Youth. No More Rhyme (which I love as well) didn’t fare well too. And We Could Be Together cause hardly a ripple.

Teenybop-pop was on the backlash, and soon to come was Nirvana and all that grunge *shudder*.

btw, let’s not forget the 3″CDS..I have a few in my collection too! Such a cutie…but as in these cases, not quite practical and didn’t quite last. The plastic adapter to make it 5″ is quite a hassle. Hehe…
